To Rent, Or Not To Rent…

Do you currently Rent?  Or are you considering renting?  There is some great information in this article!  For Renters, First-time Home Buyers, and those not so new to the home purchasing arena alike.

  • Interest rates are still at an all time low; even with the possible rise, interest rates still favor home buyers
  • Renting is more expensive than paying for a mortgage in 20 of the 35 biggest housing markets!  And many property managers plan to raise the rental rates even more in 2016
  • Credit scores as low as 580 can obtain a mortgage
  • There is an option that may allow you to not pay mortgage insurance, even with less than 20% down

And for those that are worried they do not have the credit to qualify, please contact us!  There are programs out there that can help you fix your credit, and purchase a home!  Do not pay ridiculous rental rates that will only go up if you do not have to!

Purchasing a home is definitely not the right move for everyone.  But here are some things to consider:

  • $1,000 a month can get you up to a $200,000 home, and the interest (which is a significant portion of your early payments) is tax deductible.  Rent is not tax deductible
  • You can sell the home at a later date, and in most cases walk away wealthier than when you bought the home.  You walk away with only a rental history when you rent.
  • When you rent, you are restricted by the Landlord.  When you own your own home, you can decorate and landscape however you want (within reason!)

Buying now is easier than ever before; low credit, and very little money to put down are not the roadblocks they used to be.  Again, buying is not for everyone, and we help renters, buyers, and sellers alike, but do not be deterred by the old way of thinking!
